Another “Romeo & Juliet” movie? Garden Gnomes? We thought we’ve seen every zany, modern remake of Shakespeare’s epically tragic tale, but it’s 2011 folks, and this story is told through the world of garden gnomes.

Executive produced by rock-star Elton John and his longtime partner, David Furnish, the film follows two garden gnomes, Gnomeo (James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt), as both try to avoid tragedy and find a happy ending to their love affair.

Sir Elton John even produces all the music in the film — very cool! (Special guest duets include [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nelly Furtado[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm])

A bit skeptical? Thanks to our friends at “Touchstone Pictures,” we have a great interview featurette with the cast/crew of the film including Elton John, Michael Caine, Patrick Stewart, even Ozzy freaking Osbourne, for crying out loud!

The interview touches on the subject of the story, the meeting between “Gnomeo and Juliet,” and the eclectic cast–one which casts the Prince of Darkness to play the voice behind a cute, little lawn fawn.

“Gnomeo and Juliet”, directed by Kelly Asbury, hops it’s way into theaters everywhere on February 11th, 2011. Check out the first official trailer below.

Not sold on attending quite yet? The soundtrack includes tracks by Elton John, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and  Nelly Furtado! Watch a music video featuring Nelly Furtado and Elton John performing “Crocodile Rock” from Gnomeo & Juliet.
