No big surprise here but Lindsay Lohan pleaded no contest to misdemeanor grand theft for stealing an expensive necklace from a Los Angeles jewelry store this past January.
Lohan wasn’t in court for yesteday’s hearing, where her attorney, Shawn Holley, entered the plea on her behalf:
Lindsay was not sentenced to additional jail time beyond the 120 days she already received for a parole violation. Judge Stephanie Sautner ordered her to report to jail before June 17th, but the problem is, the jails are already overcrowded. Lindsay will probably be allowed to serve her sentence under house arrest or with an electronic monitoring program…She was also ordered to 480 hours of community service (which she has started) and must complete psychological counseling and an anti-shoplifting program..
After the court hearing, Lindsay released a statement saying, “I am glad to be able to put this past me and move on with my life and my career. I support the judge’s decision and hold myself acountable for being in this situation.”
