The Hangover 2 cruised into theatres making a cool $200 million worldwide since it’s release last weekend. Today, we’ll give you the Top 10 Hangover Cures.
The movie is kicking some butt at the box office and now we’ll help you kick the butt of your hangover. The list was compiled by Time magazine.
#10 DRINK LOTS OF WATER
If you drink an alcoholic beverage and then a glass of water, and so forth, you might be able to avoid a hangover all together. Alcohol dehydrates your body, so if you alternate with some water, you might be able to either avoid or make the symptoms of your hangover less severe.
If you don’t want to drink water while drinking, drink a lot of water before going to bed and you should wake up a little less hungover.
#9 DRINK SOME MORE
If you’re hungover, you can try the old “hair of the dog” routine. Wake up feeling hungover and have another! It’s an old Scotch-Irish folklore, but if you’re desperate, it may be worth a try!
Replace those lost electrolytes! You’ll be craving them after a heavy night of drinking whether you know it or not, and Gatorade might just do the trick. Another option could be some coconut water. Worth a shot, right?
#7 GREASY FOOD
Ahh, the old greasy food cure. Research may not support the old carbs and fat help a hangover, but some people swear by it. So, after a long night of drinking, maybe head to an 24/7 restaurant and get yourself something loaded with carbs and grease. Bacon and Pizza maybe?
#6 GO FOR A RUN
Running? Sound like something you want to do with a hangover? Maybe not, but could you possibly sweat it out? It only takes about an hour for your body to metabolize an alcoholic drink, but a little exercise can’t hurt, especially if you loaded up on the greasy food after a night out. Fresh air and a release of endorphins, could boost your mood enough to help you quickly recover and rid your body of toxins.
#5 HEADACHE PILLS
This could be an option if you hangover is primarily a headache. If your symptoms include nausea, tiredness, dehydration or more, this option isn’t for you, but if it’s just a headache, you can try headache pills. Just keep in mind that acetominophen can cause liver damage, which you might already be in the process of doing if you drink a lot, and aspirin can increase the chance of stomach bleeds and bleeding in your gastrointestinal tract. Hmm, maybe we should just stick to water.
#4 TAKE VITAMINS
Alcohol will rid your body of vitamins it needs, so the most important vitamins to take would be Vitamin B & C. People that took a B Vitamin Complex swear by it and say it really works in the case of hangovers. If you want to try the Vitamin C treatment, take some Emergen-C. It hasn’t been proven to work, but people that try the vitamin route, say to take 1 pill before drinking and 1 pill the next morning with some food.
This one, might not be so effective. Mainly because coffee has a lot of caffeine and it’s also a diuretic, which will continue to dehydrate your body. It may wake you up, and possibly relieve your headache, but no promises on this one.
#2 SELF PITY
You’re in pain and miserable from being hungover and you swear you’ll never drink again. Maybe you said something stupid or drunk dialed someone. You feel ridiculous and stupid, and hey, maybe by that point, you’re more concerned about being an idiot than feeling your hangover! Give the “woe-is me” option a try sometime.
#1 DON’T DRINK!
The only way to avoid a hangover for sure, is to not drink at all. There’s none of that drunk dialing to worry about, and you can remember all the idiotic things your friends did while they were drunk. Trust me, that comes in handy sometimes.
