WOW! The first word that comes to mind when thinking about THON. Incredible, passionate, rewarding, and moving are all words to describe the largest student-run philanthropy that happens at Penn State University. I want to give a big SHOUT OUT to all of the Penn State students who continue to work their butt off all year to make THON a HUGE success.

This is by far the best weekend that happens at Penn State as students raise money all year and dance for 46 hours straight to help raise awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. Not only does it raise awareness but it assists children and their families currently battling cancer.

“The mission of the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon is to conquer pediatric cancer by providing outstanding emotional and financial support to the children, families, researchers, and staff of the Four Diamonds Fund. FTK!”

Each year millions of dollars are raised from the efforts of Penn State students and your donations. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $101 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. Dancers, moralers, students, sick children, and their families unite at THON, and the experience is magical. It’s a weekend for them to forget about the awful battle they fight on a daily basis. Students dance while they participate with their THON families in fun activities. I had the opportunity to cover THON with the Big 10 Network and the experience is one I will never forget. Cancer affects everyone and THON is an excellent reminder of how the fight still continues and people need our help.

As a Penn State Alumnus I am so happy and proud of all of you! WE ARE…
