Hours after Miguel posted a new song on Soundcloud that addressed last week’s police shootings, he broke down on stage during his performance at London’s Wireless Festival on Friday night (July 8), reported Billboard.
“We can’t let s— just blow over and not take action anymore,” Miguel said to the festival crowd. “Look, our children will inherit this Earth when we’re gone. What are we leaving for them? What are we doing for them now, not tomorrow? Now!”
Miguel said he couldn’t sleep the night before after hearing the news that two black men were shot dead by police officers earlier in the week and then five white police officers were killed during a protest in Dallas, TX the following day.
“We cannot rest anymore,” he said in between tears. “We have to do something. We have to say something. I’m sorry if I’m preaching to you. But it’s true.”
