Bubba Show is teaming up with the UPMC Center For Nursing Excellence to spotlight the great nurses in the Pittsburgh area!
Amy has been a nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for over 10 years. She is involved in many programs within our unit to help promote development of new nurses, communication between nurses and doctors, and the overall health and wellness of our senior nursing staff. Amy’s commitment doesn’t stop there. Unfortunately Amy lost her mother to a battle with breast cancer several years ago. Since then Amy has created LILVEST OF HOPE, in honor of her mother. She makes cancer care bags for men and women undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. These bags contain warm blankets, mouth care, water bottles, leggings, scarfs, socks, word searches, and so much more. She also collects new unwrapped toys for our treasure chest within Children’ s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She encourages parents to teach their children about our treasure chest and gets them excited about giving back to kids in need. She is the most selfless person I know and has such a passion to give back. I haven’t even described her outstanding nursing care. She is so nurturing to our patients and families, all while providing impeccable nursing care. She is detailed oriented and treats each patient as if it were her own family member. I can hands down say I’d want Amy taking care of my child, if I ever found myself in the hospital. She is an amazing nurse and a even more outstanding person. So proud to call her my colleague and friend.
If you know a nurse that has gone above and beyond the call of duty or one who showed compassion and empathy in your time of need, we want to know about her or him so we can highlight the nurse on Friday mornings, on Bubba Show.
