John Mayer has been rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy, forcing Dead & Company, the band he’s currently touring in, to postpone at least one show.
The band, consisting of former Grateful Dead members, announced Mayer’s health scare on social media. “Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed,” the band tweeted.
There is currently no further information on Mayer’s status. Check back for updates.
UPDATE: According to a statement from his representative Mayer is “recovering from the emergency appendectomy he underwent yesterday and is in good spirits.”
“The Dead & Company concerts scheduled for Dec. 7 in Orlando, Florida and Dec. 8 in Sunrise, Florida, in addition to the Dec. 5 show in New Orleans, are postponed,” the statement continued. “All tickets for these shows will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Information on the rescheduled concerts will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at the point of purchase.”
